BECOME AN OFFICIAL FTST HOST
Join the human connection revolution!
F*ck the Small Talk™ is a one-of-a-kind social experience where strangers come together for an afternoon of meaningful, fun, and deep conversation.
It’s also just a different & cool way of meeting new people by getting a bit out of your comfort zone and skipping the small talk! 🎈
It all started in Berlin in 2019 out of my frustration of going to unfulfilling and boring Meetups. I (hey, it’s Stefano!) cringed every time someone asked me “where are you from?”. To this day, I still don’t have the short answer.
Since then, I’ve met some incredible humans who have brought the event to cities beyond our initial reach. Together, we’ve hosted around 15,000 people in 30 different cities, from Berlin to Vienna, London, Lisbon, Mexico City, Madrid, Vancouver, and even Reykjavik (Iceland)! 🌍
Most importantly, we’re on a mission to bring humans together in the most creative ways possible. We’re fighting the loneliness epidemic, inspiring curiosity, and empowering others to become more intentional gatherers. After years of testing, experimenting, and hosting, we are ready to bring this to even more people around the world.
We’re looking for awesome hosts like you

“Being an FTST host is honestly one of my greatest joys, and when I feel like the truest and best version of myself.
It really feels like I'm helping other people make new friends and connections, while at the same time building my community (and being paid for the privilege.)
If a dream job is doing something you'd do for free for money, this is totally it! My 'day job' is quite head-focused, so it's great to have such an energising and heart-focused side-hustle where I can let loose and help others do the same in a safe and playful environment.”
- Charlie, hosting since 2021
Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for curious, open humans who love bringing people together. Someone warm, proactive and playful. Comfortable taking ownership, putting themselves out there, and becoming the person who grows and represents the FTST community in their city.
🎤 Great with people
You’re comfortable speaking to a room, guiding a group and making strangers feel at ease. Previous experience with facilitation, public speaking or events is a big plus.
🚀 Proactive & independent
You take ownership. You don’t need someone chasing you to make things happen, and you’re comfortable solving small problems, taking initiative and asking for help when you actually need it.
💙 Aligned with what we stand for
You care about creating inclusive spaces where people can be curious, honest, silly, vulnerable and fully themselves.
🎨 Playful & creative
You’re curious, open-minded and willing to experiment. You don’t take yourself too seriously, and you enjoy adding your own personality to the experience.
🗓️ Reliable & organized
You can commit to hosting roughly one event per month (more if there’s demand) and you’re good at communicating, planning ahead and following through.
🌱 Community-minded
You genuinely enjoy bringing people together. You’re excited about growing something locally, building relationships and creating a community people want to come back to.
Bonus llama points if… 🦙
You know your city well and have connections to interesting venues or communities
Good at improvising when things inevitably get a lil weird
You’ve attended a F*ck the Small Talk event before
You already create content or enjoy being on camera
You live near a llama farm
What’s in it for you
You bring the energy, personality and local magic. We bring the format, training, tools and a whole herd of humans doing the same thing around the world. We handle a lot of the less-sexy stuff too, like tech, ticketing, systems and logistics, so you can focus on hosting, connecting people and making the experience feel magical.
🌍 Build something meaningful
You’ll get support with the initial setup, with the associated costs covered by us, plus access to the FTST brand, design elements and everything you need to get started.
🎤 Become a Better Host
Our FTST Cohort Training goes far beyond learning how to run one event. Across three live 2-hour sessions, you’ll learn how to become a stronger host and facilitator, create better group experiences, handle different room dynamics, and think more intentionally about experience design.
The trainings are co-led with a wonderful learning experience designer, coach and facilitator, bringing in tools and perspectives that can help you far beyond FTST too. Think communication, confidence, presence, leadership and how you show up with people in general.
You’ll also get access to the official F*ck the Small Talk™ Host Manual, an FTST Host Certificate, and regular host check-ins on Zoom.
🦙 Join a Global Host Network
Connect with FTST hosts around the world, swap ideas, share learnings and get support from people running the same experience in very different cities. You’ll also get free access to Epic Llama events and workshops.
💸 Earn While Hosting
We work on a revenue-share model, with hosts taking home the majority of the profit from each event. Hosts typically earn around €300–€500 per event, although this varies depending on your city, ticket pricing, attendance and overall event performance.
🛠️ Get the Tools & Support
We’ll help with the operational side too, including:
Marketing support through newsletters and social media
Access to our brand, design elements and cards
Support with the initial setup in your city
🚀 Grow With Us
You’ll be part of a project that’s still evolving, with opportunities to contribute ideas, experiment and help shape how FTST grows around the world.
As you grow with Epic Llama, there may be opportunities to bring some of our other formats to your city too, like Playground for Adults, our playful, summer-camp-energy experience in the park, or Get Shit Done, our focused coworking sprint.
If there’s another format you’d love to explore, we can always chat about it together.
There may also be opportunities to host private or corporate events under the Epic Llama brand, depending on experience, availability and fit. These are always discussed and agreed on separately.

Facilitating FTSTs has been a super rewarding experience not only due to meeting amazing people and feeling gratitude for the effort put into the events but also on a personal level, as I’ve gained more confidence as a speaker and a host. - Kristyna
Hosting FTST has been one of the most rewarding things I have done. It pushed me to grow personally, lead with intention and connect with an inspiring global network of hosts who are creating these spaces in their own corners of the world. I could borderline write an essay on how much value being a host has brought me 🩵 - Samar

Think of it like launching your own event series, except you’re not starting from scratch. You’re stepping into something that already works, with a team behind you to help you make it happen. (we’ve been doing this for 5+ years!)
And most importantly? We’ll never leave you hanging. If we bring you on as a host, it means we believe in your city and your ability to make this work. We’re in it with you. 💙
-
We’ve been doing this for years, we’ve built a strong brand, and we’ll support your events through our channels, social media, and newsletter of 10,000+ subscribers.
That said, we also expect hosts to take initiative.
Every city is different, and in many places you’ll know the local scene better than we do. That might mean posting in relevant Facebook groups, sharing on Instagram, reaching out to local communities, collaborating with venues, or experimenting with other ways to get the word out.
We’ll give you the tools, brand, strategy and support. You bring the local knowledge, curiosity and willingness to try things.
You’re definitely not doing this solo, but we do want hosts who are excited to help their events grow.
-
This directly depends on your city! The host receives the majority percentage of the event sales.
The average host payout is around between 250€-450€ per event. Could be more or less depending on your city.
We’ll send you more detailed information once we have a call and you fill in the application form. -
Epic Llama is the umbrella company, and F*ck the Small Talk™ is one of our signature experiences. In addition to FTST, we host a variety of other unique events like Playground for Adults and Get Shit Done.
Beyond our events, we specialize in experience design consulting and offer epic team-building events and workshops for organizations of all sizes. We’ve had the privilege of working with companies like Amazon, Klarna, Malwarebytes, foodspring, Google Cloud, and SAP.
-
You don’t need to be an influencer or content creator, but you should feel comfortable using Instagram, Facebook and other digital tools to help promote your event.
We’ll support you with content, branding and marketing, but every city is different. We expect hosts to bring some local knowledge, initiative and willingness to experiment with what works.
-
We’re just as invested in your success as you are, because when your events thrive, F*ck the Small Talk thrives too. We’ll give you the training, tools, support and guidance to help you get started, and we expect you to bring the same level of initiative and commitment on your side.
If we both genuinely give it a proper shot and something still isn’t working, we’ll talk about it together and figure out what makes sense. Ultimately, this is an opportunity to bring something meaningful to your city, earn from it, and do it with the backing of an established brand, proven format and global network of hosts.
It’s not a job, and it’s not a gamble. It’s a partnership. 💙

Most of our events currently attract people in their mid-20s to mid-30s, and that’s the core audience we’ve built FTST around so far.
When bringing FTST to a new city, we’re generally looking to reach a similar crowd: curious, open-minded humans around 25–35 who are excited to meet new people and skip the usual small talk.
That said, we’re open to exploring events for other age groups too. If you think there’s a strong opportunity for a different audience in your city, let’s talk about it.
-
We’re currently looking for committed hosts who can run regular events in cities that meet one of these criteria:
1. Active Meetup scene – Think cities with a vibrant Meetup community, like most cities in North America and European capitals.
2. Active digital nomad community – Ideal for cities like Buenos Aires, Malta, and Mexico City.
3. Private events – If you prefer hosting private or community-specific events, the city you’re in doesn’t matter! You can still join the training and use the format however you like (for religious groups, community organizations, etc.).
We currently have chapters in 29 cities: Barcelona 🇪🇸, Basel 🇨🇭, Berlin 🇩🇪, Bologna 🇮🇹, Brussels 🇧🇪, Buenos Aires 🇦🇷, Budapest 🇭🇺, Chiang Mai 🇹🇭, Cologne 🇩🇪, Copenhagen 🇩🇰, Cyprus 🇨🇾, Dubai 🇦🇪, Edinburgh 🇬🇧, Geneva 🇨🇭, Glasgow 🇬🇧, Hamburg 🇩🇪, Istanbul 🇹🇷, Lisbon 🇵🇹, London 🇬🇧, Mexico City 🇲🇽, Montreal 🇨🇦, Paris 🇫🇷, Riyadh 🇸🇦, Torino 🇮🇹, Toronto 🇨🇦, Vancouver 🇨🇦, Vienna 🇦🇹, Wellington 🇳🇿, and Zurich 🇨🇭.
For example, Vancouver isn’t known as a digital nomad hub, but its strong Meetup culture makes it one of our most popular cities! The same goes for Berlin.🌍 We’re particularly interested in expanding to cities like Amsterdam, Bangkok, Singapore, Seoul, Munich, Frankfurt, and Tokyo. (We’re also keen on expanding to less-known cities!)
If your city isn’t on the list, don’t worry, you can still apply to become a host!
We’re looking for hosts who can commit to organizing monthly events (or at least 11 per year) in their city. Of course, you’re welcome to host more if the demand is high!
Love from the llamas ❤️
FTST (Buenos Aires) provided an interesting format that made the transition from "small talk" to "deep and meaningful" conversations very easy.
I attended this event in Lausanne, Switzerland last Sunday with an open heart and absolutely no expectations. I simply wanted to connect and enjoy being around other human beings.
This event was something original and unique at Lausanne. Already looking forward for the next one and to reconnect with the people at the event.
If you feel open and curious about fellow humans - go along. So worth it.
I loved F*ck the Small Talk, I was a little bit nervous at first but they are pros at making you feel comfortable with the rest of the group, the activities are really fun and I enjoyed every second. Give it a try!
Lively, interesting, introspective, completely open and no judgment. Everyone that joined was ready for great conversation and helped with different perspectives. So much fun!
It's a wonderful experience, it's like being a kid again, when you were at the park, playing with other kids, and just decided you were going to be best friends for the next hours.
Hi there 👋
Happy you made it down here :) Just wanted to say slide by and say that I’m excited you’re here. It’s been such a beautiful journey so far, and we can’t wait to meet you soon! Feel free to message me if you have any questions.
Talk soon & 1000 llama hugs 🦙,
Stefano
